Engineer Jim Stone and host Tom Ball

As proud "donaters" to the "Just Plain Folk" show, we'd like to thank Tom and Jim for their unwavering support of the area's thriving folk music scene.

The Ramblers also had a cut from our Porch Music CD played on Don Igoe's "Pickin' the Grass" bluegrass show on WAPS. The tune, "Bonaparte Crossing the Rhine," Mr. Igoe explained, is a good example of the 200-year-old influence of Irish-Scottish immigrant musicians that would many years later become transformed into what we call bluegrass today.

Rambling across the airwaves…The Brick Road Ramblers were featured performers on 913TheSummit's "Just Plain Folk" show (Tuesday evenings from 8-10), hosted by Tom Ball and engineered by Jim Stone. 913TheSummit is Public Radio WAPS.

Besides playing live renditions of some of our favorite tunes and chatting with the host about the history of the band, the Ramblers each brought a select song to introduce and play on the air: Ron, Picking up the Pieces by Poco; Steve, Sail Away Ladies from Uncle Dave Macon; Dave, To Ramona by Dylan; Wayne, Blackberry Blossom from Michelle Shocked; Tom, Boulder Skies by Pure Prairie League.

The two-hour show, which included Brick Road Rambler versions of Dooley, Going to the West and Rawhide, ended with Ron's beautiful banjo arrangement of Silver Bells.
