Fiddler Wayne

Home > About us > Wayne

Wayne Marks is our fiddler, singer, and contact man.  He also plays mandolin when he can pry one loose from Steve's grip. Wayne plays a vintage 1890's Japanese-made fiddle. Prior to the Ramblers, Wayne played in the contra dance band "One String Short."

His favorite fiddlers (this week) include Kevin Burke, Kenny Baker, Itzhak Perlman, and Frankie Ferrell. He enjoys the work of the great Klezmer, Celtic, and Appalachian fiddlers, and has adopted a style which remotely touches on all of these traditions. When he's not working up a fiddle tune, he can be heard talking up obscure Kinks and Jethro Tull songs. Wayne also MCs many of our shows.

Wayne has written several songs, and we perform "The AC&Y".
